Our conviction

About the founder

Shukairo "Shay" Baker

"One of a small number of clinicians in the country dual-licensed as both a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner and a licensed clinical social worker."

Shay holds rare dual licensure as a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). Her clinical work spans pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations — across psychiatric evaluation, psychopharmacology, individual psychotherapy, and integrated care.

She founded TheraPsych Institute to train the next generation of integrated psychiatric clinicians — and to give working PMHNPs the therapy skills the field has historically pushed aside.
