Supervised clinical training with a dual-licensed PMHNP and LCSW. Three student populations. In-person and virtual options. A precepting relationship built on genuine mentorship, integrated clinical thinking, and the belief that your training shapes your patients' outcomes for the rest of your career.
Each student population has different training requirements, licensing boards, and clinical learning objectives. Shay works with all three — with supervision tailored to the specific requirements and goals of each track.
Shay's dual licensure as both a PMHNP and LCSW means you see psychiatric care and therapy working together — not as separate disciplines. That integrated lens shapes how you think about patients for the rest of your career.
Supervision sessions go beyond case review. Expect direct feedback on your clinical reasoning, your communication with patients, your documentation, and your developing clinical voice.
PMHNP students gain exposure to evidence-based psychotherapy techniques integrated into prescribing visits. Counseling and social work students see the medical dimension of psychiatric care that outpatient practice often misses.
Business questions — billing, credentialing, how to find your first clients, what a sustainable caseload looks like — are part of the conversation. You leave clinically ready and professionally prepared.
Complete the precepting inquiry form with your program, student track, hour requirements, and availability. Tell us about your learning goals.
A 30-minute call to discuss your program requirements, learning objectives, preferred format (in-person or virtual), and whether it's a mutual fit.
We complete the preceptor agreement with your program, confirm the start date, and set up your supervision schedule and clinical rotation plan.
You begin your rotation with regular supervision sessions, clinical observation, and progressively increasing clinical responsibility as competency builds.
Shay holds dual licensure as both a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner and a licensed clinical social worker — one of a small number of clinicians in the country with both credentials. Her clinical background spans psychiatric evaluation, psychopharmacology, individual psychotherapy, and integrated care — across pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.
As a preceptor, Shay brings the same standard she applies to her own clinical work: high expectations, genuine investment in each student's development, and a commitment to helping you build not just clinical competency but clinical confidence. Students who train with Shay leave with more than completed hours — they leave with a framework for thinking about patients that shapes their practice long-term.
Availability varies by semester and student track. Submit an inquiry and Shay's team will be in touch within 2–3 business days to discuss fit, timing, and next steps.
