About TheraPsych Institute

An institute built on the conviction that prescription and conversation belong together.

TheraPsych Institute is a clinical training, precepting, and consulting organization for psychiatric nurse practitioners, licensed clinical social workers, mental health counselors, and the graduate students about to become them. We exist to close the gap between psychopharmacology and psychotherapy — and to raise the standard of integrated psychiatric care.

Training Precepting Consulting Retreats Founded by a dual-licensed PMHNP + LCSW
Our mission

To train clinicians who treat the whole person — not the half that fits the appointment slot.

Psychiatric medication and psychotherapy have been pulled apart by the structure of modern care. We believe they belong together — in one appointment, in one clinician's framework, in one conversation. Every program we run, every student we precept, and every practice we consult on is shaped by that conviction.

Elevate Practice. Empower Minds. Expand Possibility.
The gap we close

Why an institute, and why now

PMHNP programs teach prescribing. Counseling and social work programs teach therapy. Patients live at the intersection — and the field rarely trains anyone to meet them there.

💊

Prescribers without therapy skills

PMHNPs leave training fluent in psychopharmacology but rarely equipped to do the talk-therapy work that often determines whether medication holds. We give them the modalities, the language, and the CE hours to change that.

💬

Therapists without medical fluency

LCSWs, LMHCs, and LPCs work alongside prescribers every day, often without ever seeing the medical side of psychiatric care in training. Our precepting tracks change that.

🎓

Students stuck between disciplines

Graduate students are often the ones who see the gap most clearly. They want preceptors who teach across the line — not just sign hours. We are that preceptor.

📈

Clinicians without business support

Clinical excellence does not pay rent. Most mental-health clinicians launch and run practices with no business training. Our consulting practice exists for them.
